Auckland United FC Signs Two New Players
Auckland United FC welcome two new signings
Daniel Atkinson
Daniel joins us for the remainder of the season from professional club VV Katwijk in the Netherlands where he has spent the last year in the Dutch third tier.
Prior to his stint in Europe Daniel was based in Wellington with Western Suburbs, training full time with the Ole Academy where in 2021 he helped Western Suburbs reach the Chatham Cup Semi Finals.
“Daniel is an intelligent technical footballer who is able to play anywhere in midfield and wide areas. His attitude and profile has allowed him to fit straight into the way we do things and will give us greater depth and quality in these areas” - Premier Men's Coach José Figueira.
DeAndre Vollenhoven
DeAndre Vollenhoven joins us from fellow Northern League side Bay Olympic where he has scored 3 goals with two assists from 10 games this season.
Born in South Africa DeAndre arrived to New Zealand in 2015 where he joined Central United Football Club before moving quickly in the Auckland City National Youth League Team where he clinched multiple titles. After impressing in the youth ranks DeAndre made his breakthrough into the Auckland City FC first team (under our current Head Coach José Figueira) playing in the previous iteration of the New Zealand National League.
“I’m happy to be working once again with DeAndre, a player I know well and who at a young age has top level experience, high technical quality and big potential. Playing anywhere in the attacking line DeAndre is an exciting creative player who can make the difference in the final third. He’s a welcome addition to further sharpen our attack” - José Figueira
Both signings come at an important stage of the season, where injuries have started playing their part as we head into the business stages of the League, still hanging on to 4th place but with several sides still nipping at our heels.
Welcome lads, we can’t wait to see you in action soon!
