Are you someone who wants to “change the game”?
We are looking for undergraduate and postgraduate students aspiring to work in the sports industry, who can assist in building the quality of the Premier Women’s and Men’s space at Auckland United Football Club, whilst gaining valuable experience in their discipline of Video/Performance Analysis.
This placement will be done under the guidance of experienced staff who have gone through the academic and sports industry process, assisting students to develop and self-drive experience relevant to their studies, practical assignments and future career opportunities. This includes aspiring strength and conditioning professionals and performance analysts.
The program is led by Ben Bate (Head Coach of Premier Women’s), José Manuel Figueira (Head Coach of Premier Men), and supported by Jo Dawkins (Director of High Performance).
These coaches have helped students gain industry experience, complete academic work and perform applied research in sport. Part of the mission at Auckland United FC is to build a leading high-performance development program that prepares athletes and staff for success at elite levels of sport, we are looking for individuals who would like to follow that path in a supportive and fun environment.
Background
Auckland United FC was formed in 2020 and is New Zealand’s only club to have qualified for the New Zealand National League Championship for both Women in men in the past two seasons. The Premier Wom’s team has achieved great success in the past two seasons, winning the Kate Sheppard Cup in 2022 and the New Zealand National League Championship in 2023 – thus qualifying for the OFC Champions League.
Auckland United FC is based at Keith Hay Park, which hosted the Football Ferns during their FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign in 2023, and we are proud to have great facilities and resources on site: https://www.aucklandunitedfc.org.nz/our-facilities
Premier Teams train three nights per week at Keith Hay Park and play games on the weekend typically at different venues across Auckland/Hamilton.
Description of Student Activities/ Role:
- Performance Analysis MATCHDAYS: Video analysis of matches and statistical reporting to a) assist in the learning process b) develop game insights c) develop intellectual property via video libraries of training exercises and match action
- Performance Analysis TRAINING: Video analysis of one training session to build a library of playing model best practice
Other Information:
